"COMEDIENNE TLC TURNS TRAGEDY INTO COMEDY"
Catch TLC's Rising Star on the Way to Fame
SUN CITY, AZ - A Valley comedienne is definitely a rising star, performing with Louie Anderson at Wild Horse Pass Casino Saturday, March 5th. TLC is her stage name, she jokes that Tari Lynn Crompton Briggs sounds like a Memorial Hospital, so she goes by TLC, as they were her initials long before The Learning Channel, plus it's easy to remember... You may have caught her act at the comedy venues across the Valley. TLC met Louie Anderson at a comedy workshop in Washington, has performed with him at The Excalibur Casino in Vegas, spent a week with Louie Anderson & Friends at the Famous Comedy Store in LA, and she is now performing again with him on March 5th at The Wild Horse Pass Casino.
"I love Louie, he's perfect!" said TLC. Louie says TLC is “a phenomenal writer & amazing person.”
But go back to 1987 and things in Tari's life weren't so funny. She was in a terrible car crash that killed her best friend and left Tari in a coma. When she came out of the coma she had total amnesia. "I couldn't do anything and I didn't even have bladder control among other things you should know how to do at 18," she explains. But Tari found that having a sense of humor about what happened helped her recover and now she uses the accident and her lasting injuries in the act. Turning tragedy into comedy takes the audience on a roller coaster ride and evokes huge laughs. To explain her memory issues she says, “Before the accident I had a photographic memory, now it's more like an Etch-A-Sketch, which really sucks when you come home with this guy you just met that you really like just to find out... your already MARRIED.”
TLC has been tearing up the comedy scene performing here in the Valley, at the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, and even toured with the very funny mastermind Gallagher. TLC runs a facebook page called Stand-Up Against Domestic Violence & produces comedy shows together with Comedian Robby Wagner to help raise awareness of Domestic Violence. You can catch TLC in the Valley at the Comedy Spot in Scottsdale on April 4th and on February 18th at the Tempe Improv, AZ Funnies room. If you go to a Comedy Show let them know you are there to see TLC, her upcoming shows are listed on her website
